Your heating device is one of the home appliances that you relied on the most. However, it doesn’t run forever. As your heating system ages, rust occurs and produces black iron oxide sludge, reducing its efficiency and performance. The sludge formation occurs at the bottom of the radiator. This is triggered by the build-up of sludge obstructing the flow of water. The coldness at the top of the heating engine is caused by gases producing the sludge.
Eventually, sludge build up can lead to cold spots and if radiators went cold all over, it prevents the circulation causing pipe blockages. Another problem with sludge is, it also attacks pumps and heat exchangers in boilers which causes a banging noise to occur. Soon enough, your heating processes will fail prematurely and the efficiency of the heating system will greatly reduce, wasting the fuel.
Is your boiler getting noisy? Are your heating devices have cold spots at the bottom? Are your radiators not as hot as they used to? Is your hot water not as warm as it used to be? When you vent your radiators is the water black or orange? Do you want to help prevent pump and boiler heat exchanger breakdowns? You come to the right place.
Radiators run internally making them prone for cold spots. Since sludge build up can be very damaging, radiators need to be vented frequently. It is for this reason that they are going to need a clean known as power flushing. This procedure solves these problems and increases the efficiency of your heating system, thus extending its life.
Power flush uses a piece of equipment set up outside, connects to your central heating and cleans the whole system without having to take off all the radiators. Clean water and cleansing chemicals are pumped into your system continuously over a 2 hour period.
The chemicals and the force of the pumped water dislodge sludge and rust deposits. The process is continued until all the sludge has been removed and the water runs clear. A chemical Protector is then added to the system after it has been flushed and this keeps the system clean and running efficiently. All in all, the process takes 4-5 hours.
A power flush can restore circulation, improve efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and increase the lifespan of your system. Power flush equipment normally sets up outside, connects to your central heating and cleans the whole system without having to take off all the radiators. This is relatively new to the Irish market. Most heating plumbers take the radiators off the wall and either flush them out with a hose or replace them.
Power flushing is only a short term solution and does not solve the real problem which is corrosion or scale in the whole of the system. Corrosion and scale affect every part of the heating system. It builds on the inside of the pipes, valves, cylinder coil, and boiler heat exchanger as well as the radiators.
Power flushing is the best way to ensure that the whole system is properly cleaned out and protected so that corrosion or scale in other sections of the system does not affect it at a later stage.
Power flushing is a lot cheaper than having to replace your boiler and radiators, and in the long run can guarantee that your system is working more efficiently, reduce maintenance costs and increase the lifespan of your system. If you need more information about how to get a power flush, click here
