I have been a plumber for almost ten years now and I must say, there isn’t one dull day in Dublin. This city outranks, if you ask me any other large city in the world. It is so vivid at times, especially now, with St. Patrick’s Day all over the streets, that you may think you’re some place else entirely.
Being a plumber is usually dull, all you have to do is check pipes and repair them when it is the case. However, Dublin, has another dynamic, totally different. Being an emergency plumber in Dublin means being called in the middle of the night to solve people’s problems. It usually takes a few minutes to get there, but sometimes, if I am caught up in some other job, my colleagues have to go. I must say, having your own business, is the best thing that happened to me, although it is quite hard to keep a business floating.
Going back to the topic, being an emergency plumber in Dublin is harder than you may think. We do not have working hours and leisure hours. We only have working hours, which can be very tiring. I remember one night a woman woke me up, she sounded desperate. Her plumbing in the bathroom have broken, so she needed me to come right away. When I got there, the water was already pouring down the stairs, outside her house. It took us more than 2 hours to solve the problem, but, it was worth it.
Needless to say she was thankful we were able to save her house. She even asked me if I had any recording device on me so that I could record her testimonial. She wanted to give a recommendation for us, in order for anybody to hear it.
