Plumbing in Dublin is pretty much the same as everywhere else in this world. We have been using pluming since a few thousands years ago, however none of us really stop and pay a little more attention the plumbing. You would be amazed to see what interesting facts I have found about plumbing in Dublin, and all the other major cities in the world.
For example, I bet you have heard about the urban legend of crocodiles in the sewer, am I right? Well, they are not exactly crocodiles, but there are, however millions of fish, frogs and other water animals that live in the dirty water that we waste. A recent research has found a connection between us and them (I mean other than the fact they live in the waters we consider dirty). Turns out that all the medicine, drugs and outer substances we ingest, we excrete through urine that goes in the sewer and gets ingested by all the organisms that live in the sewer. I guess the sewer is full of drugged and medicated fish and frogs.
Another interesting fact about the plumbing in Dublin, is that a leak as small as a pin head is enough to fill no less than 12.000 baths in a year. Can you imagine just how much water we are wasting, while there are people in Africa that suffer from drought? Also, can you imagine your water supplier’s bill? Better get those pipes checked for leaking, right?
And for the finale let me tell you a funny fact about American toilets, not the plumbing in Dublin, but only to make us feel better about ourselves. During the half time of the super bowl finals, there is proved to be more flushed toilets than any other time of the year. Those 15 minutes of American toilets’ glory must be hilarious. There isn’t a super bowl in Ireland, but I bet our toilets feel just as over used during half time of our favorite games.
